Death of a Naturalist

I think that the poem is about nature and growing up also and doing things that you would do as a child. The opening lines evoke nature beautifully. This is because Heaney uses images such as the sod he describes this well abnd the flaks in the pond as he says they are weighted down. and puts a picture in the readers mind. Images about nature are described also bas he says about dragon flies and spotted butterflys.
